Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

 

In Year 6, Mrs Reynolds and Mrs Sheppard are the class teachers. Mrs Davies also teaches Art and DT.

Our PE days this term are Wednesday and Thursday . Please come to school wearing your kit on these days.

 

In Term 5 our parent sharing DEAR time will be Thursday morning. Our Growing Wild afternoon will be Friday 24th May. 

 

Topic: Battle of Britain (History) 

  • In English, we will writing action stories and an explanation text linked to our science topic. 
  • In DT we will looking at Architecture and creating our own buildings. 
  • In Science we will be finishing our topic 'Earth and Space' and beginning our new topic look 'Living Things and their Environment'
  • In PSHE, we will be focusing on our mental health and developing positive relationships. 
  • In History we will be studying the Battle of Britain 
  • In PE, we are excited to be working with Bath BUCS who will be delivering hockey each week and we will also begin tennis on Thursdays. 

 

In Maths, we will be revising geometry, the four operations, BIDMAS (brackets, indices, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction) and statistics. We will also be revising fractions, decimals and percentages in the lead up to Sats and focussing on where children need building in confidence.

 

Reminder: Sats Booster sessions are available every Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:05am until Sats week (w/b 11/5/26). Please see the link on Class Dojo to sign up. The activities covered in these sessions will be uploaded as attachments on this Class page weekly. They include links to videos to help your child to solve the questions.

 

Homework

Reading – pupils should read a ‘scheme’ book (or novel if free-reader) with an adult at least five times a week. Reading records are checked every Monday. 

 

Spelling Shed - children will have access to Spelling Shed’s online platform where weekly spelling lists, set by the class teacher, can be found as well as games and activities to learn the spellings learnt in class. 

 

Maths- two assignments will be set each Monday linked to current learning and recapping learning from the previous weeks.
