Adders - Year 3

Welcome to Adder Class

In Year 3, Ms Ovigne and Mrs Wood are the class teachers and we are supported by the amazing Mrs Garrard.

Our PE days this term are Monday and Friday. Please come to school wearing your kit on these days.

 

Topic

Our topic for terms 5 and 6 is Emperors and Empires. In this history topic we will be exploring  the history and structure of ancient Rome and the Roman Empire, including a detailed exploration of the Romanisation of Britain.

 

The topic will also flow through our wider curriculum as we explore:

  • In English, we will be focusing on the information text 'Ridgeback Dragons'
  • In Science we will finding out about plant nutrition and reproduction
  • In Art we will be investigating and creating our own mosaics linked to our topic of the Romans
  • In DT we will be designing and making greenhouses
  •  In ICT children will learn about iProgam and iCreate 
  •  In French we will  be learning to order ice creams using je voudrais (I would like)
  • In RE we will be studying the Hindu belief that there is one God with many different aspects. We will discuss the big question 
    How can Brahman be everywhere and in everything?
  • In Music we will be learning the songs for the Raise The Roof Music Festival and also creating a piece of music using percussion instruments
  • Our P.E. will be healthy us, well being and Tennis

 

In Maths, we will continue to follow the White Rose scheme. In term 5 we will be covering the following areas:

  • Fractions
  • Money
  • Time

Spelling

Spelling Frame 

All children from year 2-6 will have access to Spelling Frame’s online platform where weekly spelling lists, set by the class teacher, can be found as well as games and activities to learn spellings.  

Login information is stuck into homework books or reading records. Spelling lists will be stuck into homework books in the first week of term and are also available below.

Homework

In addition to daily reading, spelling and times tables practise, your child will bring home one pieces of work a fortnight that will support their learning across the curriculum. This will be set on a Wednesday to be returned each Monday.
